Title | DROPOUTS! Chapter 1 |
Content | "Oh fuck it."
I'll be blunt. Having a 10-ton spear heading towards your head at over Mach speed is not how I imagined this class's diagnostic test to be. The test was not to catch, defend, dodge or run away from the spear. In fact, that spear is nothing compared to the 100-meter monster we were supposed to defeat, since those spears came from it. That 100-meter monster was considered to be a threat to a national level and this was supposed to test our skills.
Supposed to be, we were the lowest class in this magic academy. Our class is lower than the class filled with students that can barely use magic and the other class that can't use magic. There was another class that can't use magic but they aren't even physically fit. Supposedly, we are lower than those classes.
So why is it that we have to face this monster at the very first day of class? No, there isn't some weird catch where this is just an illusion or some joke. This is the real deal. Well, it all started this morning, an hour before a massive spear was heading towards me.
"Good morning... Eh?"
After entering a rundown building in the middle of some land fill as I was guided by a beauty with glasses, I kind of regretted that I wasn't paying attention to where we were going and then she left me alone after slamming the building's front door then locking it leaving the words "You're the last troublemaker to arrive here. Seriously, why do we have to bother with this if you guys are just gonna disappear later."
Weird. If I wasn't guided by some bespectacled beauty with large breasts, I would've left earlier than later.
I was kind of trapped inside the building as of the moment since I just walked 30 minutes into a landfill so I felt very tired to escape. Since I'm here, might as well check the class. I found my way towards the only room that was the least rundown and seems to be bustling with people inside.
And so, back to the classroom.
"Is this the last person?" "Tch. I thought it was gonna be a girl?!" "And another dead meat has entered." "He looks kind of... normal?" "I told you his fly was open!" And more random chatter that really sounded rude and violent went on.
Ignoring the other dangerous comments about my tardiness, I went to check my pants and found out the last guy was right! I don't want my first impression to be the late guy with his fly down!
"Perhaps, are you Sasamori-kun? Well then, please find a seat. I'm about to start homeroom."
The one that greeted me first face-to-face was another bespectacled girl. Unlike the other, she doesn't seem to be a beauty with nice curves but she seems to be somewhat small and innocent. She looks a bit fragile, typical for a bookworm-type of character and has short hair. Her voice seems a bit too soft but also clear and audible. Looking at her again, she seems one of those types that you just want to protect from harm. She looks young but she definitely is somewhere in her early twenties.
"I'm almost turning 30 you know."
"Oh, so you're one of those people that don't seem to age in looks but gets frustrated about it on the inside. Glad you were able to know what I was thinking."
"Hehe, it's nothing. Please go to your seat now."
"Yes."
Looking around, there seems to be 34 people in this room. 32 are students including me. The other one was our homeroom(?) teacher from earlier and the other person was a guy with messed upped hair wearing sports wear. He must either be our P.E. or the counselor for our class?
"Let me introduce myself first. I am Morimiya Mizu. From today onward, until you graduate, I will be the homeroom adviser for this class. Nice to meet you."
It might seem to be a weird statement to declare being the same adviser for the rest of our school days but knowing our position, nothing can be a surprise when it comes on these things.
Our class is the lowest of the low. Apparently all of us here failed the entrance exam that was said to pass even incapable people. That is why this academy doesn't bother to spend a single cent into our class in all levels. The teachers were said to be just volunteers and everything we are doing right now is just for formalities that we are officially the failure students in this school.
Before continuing, I'll be giving a brief explanation about this magic academy to those that aren't familiar with it and are seeing a lot of contradictions from my previous statements.
This is the capital's Saint Heaven Magic and Military Academy.
This academy was established after the Great End War by the winning alliance and major countries to establish peaceful relations between sides. This was made to have one unified military and educational standard. Of course not everyone agreed to this but this was an option nowadays.
Due to various cultures and talents people may have, the academy made sure that the entrance exam would measure the persons aptitude for magic, physical abilities, and intellectual skills separately and sort them out as is. The academy would accept any result from it and properly sort them out from their results and train them to a higher standard. That is why even a nobody can become stronger than the average person in this school.
Because this is an academy that accepts any race from the alliance, or outside the alliance, the diversity of students was expected and many levels of classes were made.
A class = for students that have shown superhuman efforts in their fields. Otherwise known as the Ace class
B class = for students that have shown excellent results in their fields
C class = for students that have scored higher than basic standard results
D class = for students that are close to the basic standard in their fields
E class = for students that scored lower than the basic standard in their fields.
F class = for students that have barely made a score in the tests in their fields. Otherwise known as the Fail class
G class = for students that don't have any magical abilities, poor physical abilities, and not very smart. Otherwise known as support class.
Of course there are students that could be classified as extraordinary or already inhuman or even chosen ones. These students that have shown special traits and potential that would prove to be a great asset would be the S-class, otherwise known as the Special class.
In this class, if they found out you are the person that would save the world, pick up the holy sword, an incarnation of a god, descendant of some ancient being, or being an ancient being itself would put you in this class. Also, even if they found out you were a demon lord or something, you would end up in this class for heavy surveillance. The academy itself invests a lot into the special class as they are, well, special.
Then we have our class. There has been no official classification for it, but for convenience sake, this class is called the Dropout class, which are as I explained earlier. Here, not a single cent and bother was given since we are apparently not any asset to them. Despite many people from many countries arriving, the dropout class never really exceeded the number of 40 students. The Special class usually have a hundred students and other classes reach thousands. There are divisions within each class up there that it's complicated
Our rundown building... was just some random abandoned building that was found within the academy. Seeing it was unused, the dropouts class decided to meet up there instead of renting a room or staying outside.
Since the Academy officially accepted us the moment we took the entrance exams, the very minimal formalities was given, and then we were allowed to do as we please. They don't even give a fuck on what we do. It's useless to try to study and train to redeem yourself since there are no official teachers to evaluate you. In fact, there are no teachers. Teachers from other class can't do it for you since you aren't even in their list. If you are desperate, you can try to make a lot of proposals, go to court, and even prove yourself again in another way just to get in another class, but that process would take to long.
Don't get me wrong, some people did that already.
Well, let's just get this over with.
"That person over there would be Nagda-sensei. He would be in charge of P.E. mostly, or some subjects that I'm not in the mood to teach. He's my junior even during school so please be kind to him."
Seeing the other teacher, he already dozed off. That was quick! I know I did a lot of explaining but that wasn't supposed to affect the real time!
"Umm..."
"Yes? What is it... Umm... Somar was it?"
The one that was called as he raised his hand was a guy with a tanned complexion. If I were to guess, he should have a funny accent.
"Are you serious about being our teachers here? I heard that this was just for formalities and we don't really have real classes."
Unfortunately, he spoke normally. There was a bit of an accent but he speaks English fluently. In response, Morimiya? The teacher enthusiastically said...
"Of course. I was a student in this class myself, so I also want to teach you guys and share my fun experience in this class with you guys!"
Huh? Something was not right. Or maybe I'm just imagining it.
"Sensei, you used to have classes here?"
This time, it was a girl that spoke up. She looks normal so I won't bother telling the details of her medium length black hair, green eyes, fair complexion and breasts that seemed to be a C-cup without the bra. I think I might be able to guess her three sizes but as I said, I won't bother describing her.
"I thought we were free to go afterwards? We already failed at first anyway."
I wasn't able to see the person since he was at my back but he sounded like a thug so I already have a rough image of him.
"Ah. That's right. That was true even in my case but I still went on and survived school." She seems to have remembered something although she didn't have any intention to correct herself.
"It's true just like the rumors that the school doesn't bother with this class, and there are no real teachers but you'll know soon enough why this class still exists even if the school doesn't bother to do anything with this class."
Weird statement. She does have a point though. If the school doesn't bother placing any effort here, why are we still here?
"To answer you question earlier, well, I'm a graduate from this class. And as I was able to do whatever I want without the school bothering me, this time, I want to teach you guys properly rather than having you guys running around clueless until you die."
And then a scary statement came from the mouth of our innocent looking teacher. For some reason, I don't feel the tension from those words and can still joke around with it. But still, everyone went silent for awhile.
"Sensei... What does that mean?"
The one that spoke up was the girl beside me. Modest chest, long brown hair and golden eyes. Not shining, magical gold, gold. Just Somewhere between yellow and light brown, that gold. Anyway, normally after hearing those eerie words of dying, you would be confused or a bit terrified, but for some reason this girl is throwing some hostile looks towards the Morimiya-sensei. Is she a thug too?
"The answer to that would be discussed during our homeroom, so if that can wait for a bit, I want you guys to introduce yourself to each other before we continue. Since the people here would probably the last people to see you alive."
Another scary comment but the introductions went forward just like a normal class. I soon learned that the girl beside me was named Akashi Ayako. Double A, a useless trivia I just noticed. Then again our teacher is also a double M. Poor naming choices? |
